Warriors crunch Nuggets to advance to Western Conference Semis

Warriors won 102-98 to seal the series 4- 1 in home court, Chase Centre and book a spot in the Western Conference Semis.


Steph Curry was brought back to game five replacing Looney. He led the warriors with 30 points of which 15points were from behind the arc. Klay Thompson was also hot on heels as he almost got a double-double as he ended with 15 points and 9 rebounds.


Nikola Jokic ‘Joker’ had a double double for the Nuggets as ended the game with 30 points and a whopping 19 rebounds. He was followed closely by team mate DeMarcus Cousins ‘Boogie’ with 19 points. Nuggets needed to win this match up to bring the tie to 3-2 and put pressure on Steve Kerr’s team but were unfortunate.


The four quarters were split as each team won 2 quarters. The Warriors shot 13-of-31 from behind the arc compared to Nuggets 6-of-29.Rebounds was a great arsenal for the Nuggets as they managed to get 50 rebounds of which 36 were defensive rebounds. They really made work on the glass. Both teams’ field goal percentage was close as Warriors shot 45.1% to Nuggets 44.4% on the court.


The momentum was with the Nuggets in third quarter as they scored 30 points compared to 22 for the Warriors. Michael Malone’s team had 6 offensive rebounds in the third and Warriors none. They also deflected a couple of shots thus having 3 blocks. It was all closed out in the fourth quarter when Warriors won the fourth, 32-20 shooting 63.2% in the quarter.


It was a not so a great display from the Warriors at Chase Center but the win is all that they needed as they advance to the semis edging out the Nuggets 4-1 in the series.
