It was a one of those Super Sundays, thrilling match to watch and beautiful football from two of the best teams in the world arguably. Man City with the hope to extend their lead with a win and Liverpool hoping to dethrone the table toppers City at their own turf at Etihad.
City were on the front foot earlier in the game and maintained tempo. Liverpool resounded to maintaining their shape and hitting counter attacks by releasing Trent Alexander Arnold and Robertson on the flank. Kevin De Bruyne opened the scoring five minutes into the match where his shot was deflected in. 1-0.
Liverpool responded fast and furious when Diogo Jota slotted into the net from close range from Trent Alexander Arnold's cutback on nearly quarter of an hour played. 1-1.
The battle in the middle of the park was tough but City's dominance proved to be fruitful on more occasions. Gabriel Jesus finish was the second for City after a great Joao Cancelo cross.City was leading as they headed into the break.2-1.
The restart was every Reds' wish as Sadio Mane struck earlier within the first minute of restart to score the equaliser.2-2. What a way to celebrate your birthday with a goal in a title-decider match. Riyad Mahrez came close to snatching the victory when his chip went over the bar. Unbelievable!
The 2-2 draw was a thriller indeed as Liverpool twice fought back to earn a point. They[Man City] still top the table by a point to Liverpool who have 73 points.
