It was another epic encounter for two of the top teams in England, Liverpool facing Manchester City at Wembley for the FA Cup semifinal clash.
After the last meeting ended in draw both coaches were looking forward to win and this was one where a winner was to be at the end of it all.
Liverpool started the game stronger than City. They led the first half 3-0. It was a dream start for Klopp and his men. A brilliant corner by Robertson on the 9th minute was met by Konate’s header for the opener. It was Konate’s third goal, scoring in three games in a row.
A bizarre moment by City’s keeper Zackary Steffen gifted Sadio Mane Liverpool’s second goal on the 17th minute. And on the stroke of half time, Thiago found Mane with a great pass. Mane fires a first time shot into the bottom right corner. Great strike to make it 3-0.There was two booking to end the half with Gabriel Jesus and Fabinho both getting yellow carded.
The second half was on and City was looking for a response. Jack Grealish scored City’s first when he was teed up by Gabriel Jesus to cut the deficit to two. City was much improved from a poor first half display they ought never to play again.
Bernado Silva set up a grandstand finish in stoppage time when he tapped in from close range but Liverpool held on keep their quadruple hopes alive. It was Reds first victory over City at Wembley which ended 3-2.
