Celtics sweep Nets 4-0 to advance to Eastern Conference Semi Finals
Updated: May 5, 2022
It was another tough night at Brooklyn as they looked to turn around the results from their last match, a loss to the Celtics in home court.
Steve Nash demanded a response from the boys but they didn’t yield enough. The Nets were winless in the series. It was a night to forget for Kevin Durant and his team as they just could not hold the Nets down. On the other hand, Celtics coach, Ime Udoka, was jubilant and praised his team for keeping the defense tight and making it count at the free throw line.
Jason Tatum led the Celtics to victory with 29 points, 3 rebounds and 5 assists followed closely by team-mate, Jalen Brown with 22 points and 8 rebounds. Defensive Player of the Year, Marcus Smart, wasn’t left behind as he ended the game with a double-double, 20 points and 11 assists. Tatum was fouled out late in the fourth quarter but Celtics held on to the win.
Kevin Durant’s 39 points and 9 assists and Seth Curry’s 23 points and 4 rebounds were the leading scorers for the Nets. Kyrie Irving was third with 20 points and 5 dimes in the match.
Celtics owned the glass with 45 rebounds (35 of which were defensive rebounds), which was seven more than the Nets. Both teams were equally balanced but Celtics had the upper hand in the first half ending with 58 points to Nets 50 points.
In the third quarter, Nets upped their game and made ten free throws compared to Celtics only three. They also had a couple good offensive rebounds (5) and a block to put pressure on Celtics. Unfortunately, they lost the quarter by four to Celtics. By the end of third quarter, Celtics were in front by 12 points, 90-78.
The fourth quarter was on and Nets had to dig deep. And in deed they really did as they shot 9-of-16 from the field. Steve Nash’s men looked for fouls to go to the line but Celtics defense was sharp enough. They won their only quarter, the fourth quarter, 34-26.
Final score at Barclays Center , Nets 112 Celtics 116.
Celtics advance to Eastern Conference Semi Finals with a clean sweep of 4-0 against the Nets by winning 116-112 at Barclays Center.
