AC Milan win the Scudetto after an 11-year drought

AC Milan defeated Sassuolo 3-0 to clinch the Serie A title and their 19th Scudetto edging out Internazionale by two points.

The first half was first and furious as Olivier Giroud opened the scoring in the 17th minute with a great assist from Rafael Leao to make it 1-0 to the visitors. Fifteen minutes later, Giroud scored his second and Milan’s second of the match to make it 2-0 assisted again by Rafael Leao. Leao was really on hot streak as he troubled the defense from the wings cutting inside.

Stefano Pioli’s men were really up to the task and new the high stakes for this match with one hand on the trophy already. AC Milan’s dominant first half was wrapped up by Franck Kessie whose left footed finish found the net to make it 3-0 to the Rossoneri. It was a hat-trick of assists for Rafael Leao who was in the mood to play and win this match and title.

The second half was just to hold on or to even add more for the visitors as they were very much comfortable with the lead. Giroud was substituted with 20 minutes left in the game to a standing ovation to cap off a fine season for the 35 year old.

Substitute Zlatan Ibrahimovic came in and thought he had sealed the deal with his goal but the offside flag denied him his ninth league goal of the season. AC Milan eased home to win the Scudetto after an 11-year drought.
